Citigroup Poaches Senior Dealmaker From Deutsche Bank

Citigroup has poached a senior dealmaker from Deutsche Bank, a vote of confidence for the prospect of dealmaking in Europe despite the pandemic-induced economic uncertainty. Robin Rousseau, who previously headed mergers and acquisitions investment banking for Deutsche Bank’s Europe, the Middle East and Africa operations, is joining the New York-based bank as an investment banking vice chairman for EMEA, according to an internal memo. Mr. Rousseau, who will continue to be based in Paris, will have a particular focus on corporate clients in France and advisory across EMEA. Mr. Rousseau’s hiring comes after Citigroup lost senior Paris-based banker Maja Torun to JP Morgan earlier this year.
