The 2nd Grand Canal Culture and Tourism Expo opened in Wuxi City on September 3, with additional events also planned in Huai’an City.
Before the opening ceremony on the night of September 3, Chinese and foreign guests took a night tour of the ancient canal by an old-style painted sightseeing boat, as amazing performances held along the river created a stunning visual feast.
The expo will run until September 7 and include 15 key events in seven categories. It aims to integrate development of culture and tourism, promote popular cultural creations, travelling routes and specialty food, and also showcase the vibrant life and cultural scenes. The events also include two high-end forums to facilitate cultural and tourism cooperation and stimulate consumption in cities along the Grand Canal.
