Thousands go cycling in Taizhou, Yancheng on Car-Free Day

As part of the 8th Fitness Games in Jiangsu Province, Taizhou and Yancheng cities marked Car-Free Day on September 22, encouraging people to give up their cars for a day and consider low-carbon options like cycling.

In Taizhou, about 1,000 people cycled for 10 kilometers on the day.

Yancheng is one of the 176 cities in China that have committed to the Car-free Day initiative. Now in the third edition, more than 800 members of the city’s cycling associations registered for the event, with the oldest being 75 years old and the youngest 11 years old.

The event will also be held in Nanjing, Jurong and other places in the coastal province amid efforts to promote green and healthy lifestyle.
